Thursday 4 September - Dawdles Walk Greenriggs circular
Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am.  Walk on the western side of the town for our Greenriggs Adventure Walk.  Bring younger people for a free map with added interest.  Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.

Friday 5 September - Legstretcher with Potts Valley
Meet at Christian Head car park for car share 5.5 miles.  Allow for a morning out. Please wear suitable footwear for wet and uneven surfaces and clothes appropriate to the Cumbria weather.  A drink and snack is useful as we don’t always end near a café or pub for refreshments. 7.8km/4.8 miles, 320m/541ft, 2.5 hours.

Thursday 11 September - Dawdles Walk Augill Pasture Nature Reserve, Brough
Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am for car share 5.4 miles.  This is a short walk up and down hill with steps.  We are hoping for a sea devil’s bit scabious.  Also restored Lead Smelting mill. Optional refreshments in Brough.

Saturday 13 September - Heritage Open Days Walk Smardale circular
Meet Smardale Nature Reserve car park CA17 4HG 2.8 miles from Kirkby Stephen. With a HOD theme for 2025 of buildings and bridges, exploring how we have designed and built the world around us, this walk will look at Smardale Viaduct designed by Thomas Bouch and the medieval County Bridge. 4.7miles/7.5km, 500ft/150m3. Thursday 17 September - Dawdles Walk Great Musgrave
Meet at the Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen for car share 3 miles. This walk will celebrate Heritage Open Days with a walk around the nearby village of Great Musgrave once the home of the Musgrave family.  We will include a visit to St Theobalds Church and the Tithe Barn.  Optional refreshments back in Kirkby Stephen.

Saturday 20 September - Heritage Open Days walk Church and Market Brough
Meet Church Brough car park CA17 4EJ 10:30 4 miles from Kirkby Stephen.  Again, celebrating the HOD theme for 2025 of buildings and bridges, exploring how we have designed and built the world around us we will go on our Brough Buggy Walk 3K with additional interest for children plus some extra heritage.  Visit St Michael’s Church and their history display, Brough Castle including Roman Fort remains and finish at Brough Ice Cream Parlour with children’s playground.  A perfect family outing. Thursday 25 September - Dawdles Walk Swingy Bridge and some poetry
Meet the Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am.  We will explore some medieval lanes of Kirkby Stephen together with a couple of Kirkby Stephen Poetry Path stones stopping to recite the poems. Optional refreshments back in town.

Thursday 2 October - Dawdles Walk Tailbrigg
Meet at the Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am for car share 2.3 miles.  We are hoping for some great weather for this walk so that we can see the stunning views over Eden Valley and Mallerstang while walking around this high moorland.  Optional refreshments at the Black Bull, Nateby. 

Friday 3 October - Legstretcher Walk High Helbeck
Meet at Christian Head car park 9:30am for car share 10.8 miles.  Allow for a morning out. Please wear suitable footwear for wet and uneven surfaces and clothes appropriate to the Cumbria weather.  A drink and snack is useful as we don’t always end near a café or pub for refreshments. This RSPB circular walk takes us to Swindale Beck waterfall in the North Pennines National Landscape. There are some steep sections and boggy bits. 3.5 miles, up to 3 hours.

Thursday 9 October - Dawdles Walk Viaduct Walk and Podgill
Meet at the Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am for car share 1 mile.  This is a linear walk along the Viaduct Walk cutting off to drop down to Podgill woods and then Frank’s Bridge back into town for optional refreshments.

Thursday 16 October - Dawdles Walk Ravenstonedale circular
Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen for car share 4.9 miles.  A circular walk of Ravenstonedale, route dependant on the weather and stop for refreshments, hopefully with a little art.

Thursday 23 October - Dawdles Walk Stenkrith Park and Millennium Bridge
Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen.  A walk through Stenkrith Park next to the rapids of the River Eden as far as Millennium Bridge, we will decide on the route back according to the weather.  Optional refreshments back in the town.

Thursday 30 October - Dawdles Walk plus Halloween
Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen.  To celebrate Halloween, we are going in search of Jangling Annas, Kirkby Stephen’s famous spirit of the river.  Optional refreshments in Kirkby Stephen.

Dawdles walks should take about an hour unless otherwise stated 2/3 miles - Where there is a car share, allow for extra time to reach destinations and return.  We usually find optional refreshments to continue our social gatherings.

Legstretchers, allow for a morning out - 1st Friday once a month - Please wear suitable footwear for wet and uneven surfaces and clothes appropriate to the Cumbria weather. A drink and snack is useful as we don’t always end near a café or pub for refreshments. Everyone welcome, suggested donation £1 per walk towards expenses.

We will substitute the walk leader if not available, back marker added on the day as needed. We carry Public Liability Insurance.
