The Charcoal Hare - The Art of Expressive Animal Portraiture' with Sarah Stokes

We are delighted to welcome back much acclaimed, professional wildlife artist Sarah Stokes, joining us for a fascinating long weekend in October 2026 of charcoal study and painting.

Description

Sarah's visit will begin on Friday 9th with a day course focussed on drawing this beautiful Hare portrait in Charcoal.

In the morning you will get to explore the importance of tone, as we draw a full face depiction of the Hare, capturing its wary gaze as it looks straight at the artist. We will use charcoal, concentrating on creating convincing fur, eyes and expression.

After a tasty home made lunch - hopefully in the garden - we will finish this characterful heathland friend creating a beautiful finished piece with detail and poise.

As this is a collaborative workshop between Sarah Stokes and Quirky Workshops, we will be sharing payments.
