Description
The Loki Festival, on Saturday May 9 and Sunday May 10, will take place in the town’s parish church and churchyard.
The festival will feature live Viking re-enactments, family-friendly activities, and the opportunity to see the 10th century Loki Stone, one of only two known carvings of its kind in Europe.
The festival will host Herlid Vikings, Cumbria’s leading Dark Age re-enactment group.
Their authentic encampment will showcase weapons demonstrations, craft displays, and demonstrations of everyday Viking life, including cooking, clothing repair, and blacksmithing.
The event highlights the area’s long history and its Norse connections.
Visitors will be able to explore historic stonework and enjoy displays, talks, and self-guided discovery throughout the weekend.
