Starting and finishing in the village of Morland near Penrith, the route hugs the Pennines to the east and the Howgills to the south.

It runs through the most beautiful undulating countryside in the eden valley and the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Stone circles, waterfalls, lower lying fells, cairns, rivers, meadows, and historic villages.
