Join Restore Cumbria and Cumbria Clothing Collective at Rheged for an inspiring and insightful day exploring sustainable fashion, repairing clothes, and the circular textiles economy.

Description

In this brand new event – the first of its kind in Cumbria – we want to get people thinking more consciously about the clothes they wear, the environmental cost of fast fashion, and the opportunities to re-use, re-wear, restore, and re-sell garments.

We’ll be exploring ways to mend, reuse and recycle day to day clothes, sportswear and outdoor kit, with clothing experts from around the UK and beyond.

Through films, panel discussions and hands-on activities, we hope to inspire our community to make more sustainable choices and help reduce clothing waste here in Cumbria.

Expect a day packed with:

• Inspiring films and engaging discussion panels
• Hands-on repair workshops
• An inspiring Sustainable Fashion Show
• A clothes swap with expert colour and styling guidance
• An innovation exhibition showcasing mending and repair demonstrations from leading companies.

We’re also delighted to feature repair and restyling workshops that will run throughout the day:

Learn to repair your knitwear and extend the life of your clothes with Second Cashmere’s Introduction to Darning workshop. Tickets £10pp.

Mary Morton and Jeanna Wigger, authors of “Stitch It, Don’t Ditch It!”, will run a dedicated repair workshop on hand-mending. Whether it’s a hole, a tear or something else, you can bring your items and learn how to fix them! Tickets £10pp.

Whether you’re looking to mend, refresh, or simply add a touch of creativity to your wardrobe, join Lucy & Yak for a creative workshop Embellishing and Personalising your Clothing to add your own, personal touch to your wardrobe. Tickets £10pp.

Members of Re-Action Collective will be on-site, running a workshop and demonstrating expert repair techniques for your mountain equipment.
