Try your hand at free tennis activities, bowls and obstacle golf, and enjoy a guided castle tour at a free park open day on Sunday 4 May at Castle Park, Penrith.

Description
Westmorland and Furness Council is hosting the event where the public can enjoy a range of free activities throughout the day for all ages and abilities. This follows the success of a similar open day on 13 April.
As part of this latest event, the council will be running a "Barclays Big Tennis Weekend", with free group coaching sessions and Cardio Tennis workouts from 10am until 1pm, and free tennis court access all day.
The free tennis sessions run at the following times and all equipment is provided:
- 10am - 11am coached lesson for ages 4-7
- 11am - 12noon coached lesson for ages 8-12
- 12noom - 1pm Cardio Tennis for all ages
Castle Park Bowling Club also will be on hand to offer free bowls taster sessions on the bowling green 10am to 1pm, and an English Heritage volunteer will lead a tour of the 14th century Penrith Castle ruins at 11am, meeting at Penrith Castle bridge. The tour is open to all ages, and there will be activity sheets available for children to enjoy during their visit.
There is also the option to try the classic obstacle golf course and hire tennis and bowls equipment for free during the games kiosk’s opening hours of 10am to 7pm.
Pre-booking the tennis sessions and court hire is recommended due to limited places being available. However, other activities do not require pre-booking.
