Friday 1st March - Legstretcher Walk Winton circular
5.25miles/8.6km, 500ft/150m taking 2-2.5 hours.  Please wear suitable footwear and wet weather gear for rough terrain.  Meet at Christian Head car park, Kirkby Stephen 9:30am.

 

Thursday 7th March - Dawdles Walk Swingy Bridge and Bollam Lane
From Frank’s Bridge, grass path to Podgill footbridge picking up the ancient Hartley Lane.  Returning to the town via Bollam Lane and Swingy Bridge.  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am.

 

Thursday 14th March - Dawdles Walk Wharton circular
Car share to Stenkrith NVT car park, 1 mile.  Hartley Lane to Nateby deer park and over to Wharton.  Returning via Jubilee Park permissive path and the River Eden.  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am for car share.

 

Thursday 21st March - Dawdles Walk Sandwath and Owen’s Farm Shop
We will walk medieval lanes to Sandwath stopping at Owen’s Farm shop for refreshments.  Returning to the town via Stobars and Bloody Bones Lanes (weather permitting).  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am.


Thursday 28th March - 
Dawdles Walk St Theobald’s Church and Great Musgrave
A walk round this pretty village with spectacular views over the Pennines and stop at St Theobald’s Church by the river to perhaps celebrate Maundy Thursday.  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am for car share 3 miles.


Thursday 4th April - 
Dawdles Walk Greenriggs circular
The route of our popular Family Adventure Walk on the east of the town to Greenriggs Farm returning via Croglam Lane.  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am.


Friday 5th April - 
Legstretcher Walk Smardale circular
4.7miles/7.5km, 500ft/150m taking 2-2.5 hours.  Please wear suitable footwear and wet weather gear for rough terrain.  Meet at Christian Head car park, Kirkby Stephen for car share 4 miles.


Thursday 11th April - 
Dawdles Walk Cote Moor*
A circular walk around the delightful Cote Moor, Ravenstondale and hoping to arrange  refreshments at The Fat Lamb.  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am for car share 5 miles.


Thursday 18th April - 
Dawdles Walk Hartley and Kirkby Hill
One of our favourite walks to the pretty village of Hartley with an optional climb of Kirkby Hill with lovely views over the town.  Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30am.

Thursday 25th April - Dawdles Walk Smardale Nature Reserve*
Parking at the Cumbria Wildlife Trust car park Smardale Nature Reserve walking to the viaduct and back.  We should see some spring flowers and the work to remove the diseased ash trees that have taken place over the winter.  Meet at The Cloisters for car share 4 miles.

 

Dawdles walks take around an hour unless otherwise stated.  We will go whatever the weather - please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the day – we will adapt walks when essential.
Legstretcher walks, allow for a morning out -1st Friday once a month.  

Where there is a car share, allow for extra time to reach destinations and return. We usually find optional refreshments after our walks.  

Everyone welcome, suggested donation £1 per walk towards expenses.  We will substitute the walk leader if not available, back marker added on the day as needed. We carry Public Liability Insurance.
