A weekend of activities and entertainment for all the family!

Saturday 29 July: Guided walks (details below), Jubilee Park Open Day, Farm visit and cheese making demonstration, guided coach tour of the Westmorland Dales.

Sunday 30 July: Artisan and craft market, food and produce market, live music all day, wild play for children, WI pop-up tea room, treasure hunt, Kirkby Stephen East Heritage station and steam rally, Countryside and conservation stands, storytelling, juggling, Winton Park Gardens open, Cumbria Classic Coaches shuttle service, Vintage tractors.

9:30am Fox Tower and Mount Ida, Brough

Spectacular views of the Eden Valley and Westmorland Dales.  Meet at Helbeck Quarry car park. 9:30am. NY800157 What3Words: stuffy.escalated.sparrows  Spectacular views of the Eden Valley and Westmorland Dales.  4miles/6.5k. Ascent 1049ft/320m 2.5 hours.  No dogs.  Paper copy also available to self-guide.

 

10am Smardale Gill Viaduct and Smardale Fell circular

With added information from Northern Viaduct Trust about the viaduct.  4.7 miles/7.5km, Ascent 500ft/150m, 2 hours plus.  Meet at the new Smardale Nature Reserve Car Park, Grid ref: NY743083.  Additional information https://edenviaducts.org.uk/ and the Cumbria Wildlife Trust website.

 

10am Northern Viaduct Round restored disused railway

Suitable for disabled buggies, wheelchairs and children with Debbie North of Access the Dales - Continue into Kirkby Stephen or use as a linear route.  Meet NVT car park just over Stenkrith Bridge, Nateby Road.  Wheelchair hubs available locally.  Additional information to self-guide from the Upper Eden Visitor Centre and the Eden Viaducts website.

 

2pm A Walk on the Clouds - Stenneskeugh and Fell End Clouds, Ravenstonedale

3.7 miles/6km 575ft/175m ascent, 2 hours.  Meet The Old Quarry, Fell End grid ref. NY734005, What3words princely.enjoys.roost - A685 towards Tebay, A683 to Sedbergh, after Fat Lamb Inn pass road for The Street, take next left. Park on left in old quarry after crossing cattle grid. 

2.30pm Old Ale Trail, Kirkby Stephen

Step back in time with pubs, inns and breweries of the 18th to 21st century within Kirkby Stephen Conservation Area 1 mile and 1.5 hours including stops.  Meet The Cloisters, Market Square.  Booklet guide is available from Upper Eden Visitor Centre £3 to self-guide or for additional information. May be made adaptable for wheelchairs, please advise.

6pm Walk on the dark side

Bit of horrible histories tour of Kirkby Stephen Conservation Area 1 mile and 1.5 hours including stops.  Meet at The Cloisters, Market Square. May be adaptable for wheelchairs, please advise.
