Highlights Rural Touring Scheme is delighted to announce a one-off winter gig this January, continuing their long and rich partnership with Canadian Artists. St John’s Newfoundland based folk duo Rube and Rake will perform at Kirkby Club, Kirkby Stephen on Fri 24 January.
Rube and Rake engage audiences with a mixture of stories, intricate guitar work, and rich vocal harmonies. After working together for the past six years, Josh Sandu and Andrew Laite have fused an intimate musical connection that comes across in every new song and performance.
Winners of East Coast Music Awards 2022 Songwriter of the Year and Music Newfoundland 2020 Folk/Roots Artist of the Year Award, Rube and Rake come direct from gigs in London to delight audiences in Kirkby Stephen!
Highlights Rural Touring Scheme have been collaborating with Canadian artists for 15+ years thanks to connections with Atlantic Presenters Association, Music PEI and Canada Folk Music Awards. Recent tours have included the fabulous Newfoundland band Rum Ragged, the delightful Allison Lupton, Shane Cook and Kyle Waymouth and emerging folk stars Basset.
Highlights Rural Touring Scheme works with grassroots volunteers from over 65 village halls and community venues across the North of England to bring vibrant, entertaining and
thought-provoking performances and live events to the heart of rural communities.
This performance is a one-off winter gig with Kirkby Stephen Community Arts.
From March 2025, Highlights have a full season of unmissable live events taking place in village halls and community venues across County Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland as part of the Highlights Spring 2025 programme.
