Come and discover how Ranulf ‘le Meschin’ asserted Norman dominance over the lands of Westmorland in the years following the conquest and how he set about creating Appleby as we know it today.

See how Norman knights were armed and learn more about the weapons that gave them the tactical edge.

Witness brutal combat and harsh Norman justice and experience music, crafts and cookery in our Norman encampment.
