The Westmorland and Furness Way

A new long distance walking route is coming this September 2026.

The Westmorland and Furness Way is a 120-mile route from Alston to Furness Abbey, running through stunning landscapes in the North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and Morecambe Bay.

Split into six sections, walkers can easily plan a day or weekend walk, or a longer multi-day walking holiday. Along the way, experience stunning viewpoints, cultural attractions, fantastic food and drink, industrial heritage and lots more.

The route is set to launch on September 15 as part of the Sedbergh Walking and Wellbeing Festival.
