New Roof of England walk

Roof of England Walk – a new multi-day walking trail that explores the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark - is now launched.

Dufton

Walkers can tackle the entire 14-day route in one continuous journey or complete it in short breaks. The individual legs of the long-distance trail also make great one-day or part-day linear walks.

The Roof of England Walk crosses a wide variety of terrain, from high moorland paths to peaceful riverside trails, making its way through County Durham, Cumbria and Northumberland, and a section in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The route offers opportunities to engage with nature and experience the landscape at any time of year. Highlights include Low Force, High Force and Cauldron Snout waterfalls, Allen Banks river gorge, Dukesfield Arches lead mining site, historic Blanchland Abbey, High Cup Nick and High Cup Gill, and Cross Fell, the highest point of the North Pennines.
