A host of great performances and events at Penrith Town Hall this spring

As part of Eden District Council's Arts and Culture programme, there's a range of events taking place during February and March in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall in Penrith.

This spring programme is presented in partnership with TEAM and Highlight Rural Touring Scheme who are working with the council to test arts activities at the Town Hall – so come along and join us!

Cllr Virginia Taylor, Leader of Eden District Council, said, "I am really looking forward to attending these great performances and events. They're steps towards Penrith Town Hall's exciting new future as a place for community, arts, and enterprise activities – a place for everyone, young and old, residents and visitors.

"Many thanks to Highlights and Team for bringing these great events to us in Penrith - and to the Town Hall!"

Kate Lynch, Director of Highlights, added, "As part of our mission to develop rural audiences it's great to be working with EDC on programming events at the Town Hall in Penrith to complement the work we present at our other venues across the Eden Valley."

The first event of the season is an evening of music from DARIA KULESH with her show LONG LOST HOME on Sunday 19th February at 7:30pm.

A rising star on the UK folk scene is performing her highly acclaimed album inspired by her grandmother's exodus from her Ingush homeland.

Mixing history and folklore in captivating storytelling songs, eastern roots with Western folk influence, Daria will perform Long Lost Home on a selection of folk instruments in an uplifting journey exploring the triumph of the human spirit.

Next up is a wonderful piece of theatre based on true stories of local women, LADIES THAT DIG on Wednesday 1st March at 7:30pm

A fertile blend of live music and intertwining tale from women who aren't afraid to get their hand dirty.

Ladies That Dig is about friendship and green fingers, isolation and community, nature, nurture and what it means to 'grow'…

Ladies That Dig also play at Shap Memorial Hall on Saturday 4th March at 7pm.

Later in March Opera North return to Eden with their family friendly LITTLE LISTENERS: MINI VIXEN on Sunday 12th March with performances at Penrith Town Hall at 11am and Shap Memorial Hall at 3pm

Inspired by nature, the story is set in woodland where a Vixen meets a Fox. As their friendships grows, they discover how working together is vital to protect their home and the habitat around them.

The production is accompanied by a pre-show craft activity that allows young people to become part of the show.
