A first for Cumbria - Immersive light box exhibition arrives in the Rheged Gallery

This Summer, Rheged are delighted to host the world-renowned Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition. The 100 striking images, supported by films and interviews with photographers,Dmitry Kokh, Wildlife Photographer of the Year are displayed in large light boxes which is a first for Cumbria. On loan from the Natural History Museum in London, the Exhibition is now open daily until 3 September.

Head of Programming, Claire Logan-Stephens said; “We have already been overwhelmed by the amazing customer feedback that this immersive exhibition has received. Visitors really value the fact that this light box version of the exhibition is available in the North, that it’s at an affordable price and they don’t have to travel to London to see it. Visitors are also particularly impressed with the standard of entries from the Young Photographers this year. We have added a number of children’s activities to the exhibition, to ensure its accessible to all and an experience that the whole family can enjoy over the Summer.”

This exhibition captures fascinating animal behaviour from a wren with its ear to the ground, listening for approaching insects to a seal swimming under an iceberg. Using photography's unique emotive power to engage and inspire audiences, this exhibition shines a light on the breathtaking species from around the world as well as challenging our thinking about the future of the planet – in a way only photography with well written captions can do.
