Plan your perfect Adventure...

The first section of the new Pooley Bridge has now been delivered on site!

The first section of the new Pooley Bridge has now been delivered on site!  The new structure will be the first stainless steel road bridge of its kind in the Pooley new Bridge structurecountry.

Come and see the fascinating works and enjoy a coffee or lunch in Pooley Bridge village.  Whilst you are there you can look round the shops too!  Or walk all or parts of the Ullswater Way.

All shops, eating places and places to stay in Pooley Bridge village are open as normal during the construction of the new road bridge. You can still enjoy a cruise on the Ullswater "Steamers" combined with a visit to Pooley Bridge village by walking into the village from Pooley Bridge pier over the footbridge.  Or you can park in the village and walk to Pooley Bridge Pier to catch a “Steamer”.

Please note that at the moment, there is pedestrian access only over the river at Pooley Bridge during the construction of the new road bridge on the B5320.

Whilst there is currently no vehicle access over the river at Pooley Bridge, there is car parking currently available in:

  • Eusemere car park in the village if approaching on the B5320 from Tirril
  • In a temporary car park on the A592, 100 yards before the junction with the B5320 near Waterfoot Park with a footpath link to the village via the footbridge

Routes in and out of Pooley Bridge village and car parks during the works

A useful leaflet to download called "Routes in and out of Pooley Bridge" shows how you can get to Pooley Bridge village and car park locations during the works.  The leaflet is available on www.cumbria.gov.uk/pooleybridge where you will also find more information and the latest updates about the new Pooley Bridge project.
