Argill Woods


Argill Woods, near Brough is a nature reserve on the steep sides of Argill Beck and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) with waterfalls and pools where dippers and pied flycatchers can be seen. Spring flowers carpet the woodland floor whilst species rich meadows provide a habitat for orchids and melancholy thistle.

Bluebells and wood sorrel is abundant, with oak and birch and mature trees providing nestign for bats, and birds such as greater spotted woodpecker, spotted and pied flycatcher, tree creeper, redstart and numerous species of tit.
