    Cumbria Guitar Show 2019

    The Cumbria Guitar Show is one of the North’s most popular events of its kind, and has been running for over 20 years.  With dozens of stands across three exhibition halls, stacked full of new, used and vintage guitars and accessories to try or buy, this is a great day out for all guitar enthusiasts.  There will be a host of artists performing including the Adrian Gautery Band; plus Cumbria’s very own Dean Newton, who will be providing electric guitar workshops. The talented acoustic guitarist, Ken Nicol, will be playing tunes from his new album; Ken has previously toured with The Albion Band and Steeleye Span.

    The Winter Droving

    The magical day of rural celebration, food, fun, games, masquerade and fire in Penrith…including a traditional Cumbrian market featuring local food and drink, and high quality arts and crafts.  There are rural games such as tug of war and hay bale racing to win the Drovers Cup, as well as fantastic array of street entertainment.  Then as night falls welcome the mystical masked procession…featuring fire, music, mayhem and animals aplenty.  The Winter Droving has quickly established itself as a key event in the Cumbrian calendar, attracting thousands of people from all over the north. There are lots of opportunities to join in (carry a torch in the procession or enter a team into the Drovers Cup) or to simply stand around gawping and feeding your face and maybe throw a few coconuts about!  Join the Herd for a spectacular celebration of winter and Penrith’s agricultural heritage – illuminating Penrith with fire, animation, music and merriment.  The Winter Droving takes place on Saturday 26 October 2019 in Penrith.  An Eden Arts Project.

    Appleby Horse Fair 2020

    A traditional, informal gathering of Gypsies and Travellers - lively atmosphere with plenty to see - horses being washed in river, raced down street, stalls etc.  Appleby Horse Fair takes place on the first week in June from Thursday to the following Wednesday, but it is essentially a weekend event with the main days being Friday, Saturday and Sunday.     On the first Saturday of July every year The Patterdale Parish Parish Boundary Walk takes place.  The 2020 Boundary Walk will take place on Saturday the 4th July.  This annual event is a lot of fun for those taking part and raises much needed funds for St Patrick’s Church in Patterdale and the Patterdale Church of England Primary School.  If you’re interested in taking part then please contact us.
