2019 Eden Tourism Summit 'Sustainability: Working together to strengthen our visitor economy' Thursday 17 October at North Lakes Hotel and Spa

The 2019 Eden Tourism Summit 'Sustainability: Working together to strengthen our visitor economy' will take place on Thursday 17 October 10.15am to 3.30pm (registration from 9.30am) at the North Lakes Hotel and Spa, Penrith.  Invitations have now been emailed.

Following the success of our previous Eden Tourism Summits we are delighted to announce details of our eighth Summit.

We have brought together exceptionally high profile tourism professionals who will speak about important tourism issues which will directly benefit your business.  In addition, we will be running workshops sessions in the afternoon.  Space is limited and must be booked in advance.  We urge you to book your place(s) as soon as possible as this is a day you won't want to miss.

The Summit will be chaired by Jim Walker, Chair of the Eden Tourism Network with a welcome by Councillor Mary Robinson, Commercial Services Portfolio Holder and Deputy Leader of Eden District Council.

Our Speakers include:

  • Mike Innerdale - Director of National Trust, North Region
  • Kurt Janson - Director, The Tourism Alliance
  • Anna Harris - Market Intelligence Consultant, VisitBritain
  • Helen Tate - Research Manager, Cumbria Tourism

In addition, delegates will have the opportunity to take part in two workshop sessions in the afternoon. 

The Workshops will focus on:

  • National Tourism Policy: How does it affect us locally?  Kurt Janson - Director, The Tourism Alliance
  • Sustainability: The natural business lifestyle, Laura Short, Partner CBEN Partnership and a Case Study from the award-winning Quiet Site, Daniel Holder
  • UKInbound - Understanding overseas visitors and how to meet their expectations, Nathan Alemany, Business Development Manager UKInbound

There will be an opportunity to network with other tourism businesses during a two course hot and cold buffet lunch served in the Fyr Grill.  There is also the chance to have a short tour of North Lakes Hotel and Spa.

Delegate Pack Opportunity

As part of this year's Eden Tourism Summit we plan to give out 100 delegate packs to people attending the event.  The summit delegate pack is a great way of promoting your business to delegates and speakers attending the summit - encouraging them to visit, experience and discover what our area has to offer.  Delegate pack entry is free.

Participating businesses / organisations would need to to provide:

  • Up to 2 separate promotional gifts

and / or

  • 1 leaflet which must include a special delegate offer which should be valid up until end of 2020 (as a guide)

Gifts and leaflets must be able to fit inside the Delegate Pack which is A5 size.  Material for 100 packs will be required.  A limited number of places in the pack are available, so please register now to avoid disappointment tourism@eden.gov.uk  The deadline is 7 October 2019.

 

Exhibitor Stand Opportunity

As part of this year's Eden Tourism Summit, we have created a great promotional opportunity for businesses to take advantage of.

During the event, that runs from 10.15am to 3.30pm, there will be opportunities for delegates to look around participating exhibitor trade stands.  Plus your business representatives are most welcome to attend the Summit itself.

The cost for an exhibitor trade stand is just £80 plus vat and includes one person's attendance at the Eden Tourism Summit.  Additional delegate places are available for £30 plus vat.

Exhibitor stand spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. For more information please email tourism@eden.gov.uk    The deadline for booking a stand is 7 October 2019.
