The Great Gable war memorial of the Fell and Rock Climbing Club comes to Penrith
'So many dreams and hopes of future exploration in the mountains and on the crags destroyed. Their legacy is in the freedom we have to follow our dreams and the opportunity to fulfil our hopes.' The Fell and Rock Climbing Club (FRCC) President, John M Barrett.
The FRCC Memorial Plaque which commemorates the lives of the club members who died in the 'Great War' is on display at Penrith and Eden Museum from the 26 of June to the 30 of November 2018.
The booklet which the FRCC produced as part of the centenary of the outbreak of the 'Great War' accompanies the display. It includes detail about the twenty members named on the plaque and the history of the memorial.
Penrith and Eden Museum is open daily with free admission.
