Council extends free car parking to end of December
Eden District Council has announced that it’s extending the suspension of parking charges at most of its off-street parking locations until the end of December 2020.
The original decision to offer free parking was taken in March, as lockdown measures were being announced by the government. Parking charges were due to start again from the end of September, but with high streets across Eden now open again, it’s hoped the extended offer of free parking at the Council’s off-street car parks, excluding the car parks at the side of the Town Hall and to the rear of Mansion House in Penrith where normal charging and parking enforcement resumed at the end of August, will encourage residents and visitors back into the district’s towns in support of local businesses.
Residents and visitors are reminded that Cumbria County Council has resumed parking enforcement activities for on-street parking in Eden and that it’s always best to check local parking enforcement arrangements before travelling.
